Old High German origin
Source-reportedMeaning: “noble”
Contains the Germanic element adal-, adel-, ultimately from Old High German adal (“noble”), Proto-Germanic *aþalaz. Found in a story (Adalminan helmi, Adalminas pärla) written by Zachris Topelius. Possibly a Finnish coinage, a kind of blend from Vilhelmiina with this Germanic element.
