From West Circassian Шахьынджэрый (Šaḥəndžɛrəj) or East Circassian Шахьынджэрий (Šaḥəndžɛrij). The name originates from Şahin Giray (1745–1787), the last of the Crimean khans from the Giray dynasty. The names and titles of Crimean khans were heavily assimilated into Circassian nobility and widely used as personal names among the Circassians.
