Etymology in the sources
Source-reportedVariant of Solveig, from Old Norse Sǫlveig. The first element is traditionally connected with salr (“hall, house”), while the second element -veig probably means “strength, ability” or “fighter, warrior”. Compare Norwegian Nynorsk Solvei, Swedish Solvei and Danish Solvei (“female given name”).
