Biblical Hebrew origin
Source-reportedBorrowed from Biblical Hebrew אַבְרָהָם (Avrahám). Attested since the 1830s. Possibly modified from 亞百拉罕/亚百拉罕, the earlier translation of Abraham, which was attested in the Chinese translation of the New Testament by British missionary Robert Morrison, 耶穌基利士督我主救者新遺詔書 [1813].
