Source-reportedFrom earlier *pompto-, itself from *ponto- (whence πππππππ (pΓΊntiis)), ultimately from Proto-Italic *kΚ·enktos. The term was probably reshaped from *ponto- under the influence of the ordinal *pompe. The word might have alos undergone the deletion of the second *p, though it is also possible it was merely omitted orthographically, whereas it was left present in Ξ ΞΏΞΌΟΟΞΉΞ΅Ο (Pompties).
