Meaning: “goodness” + “kept in memory”

Borrowed from Proto-Saka, though ultimately uncertain. Harmatta posits Proto-Saka *Šəḍāsa, from *šəḍāi (“goodness”) + *āsā (“kept in memory”) (whence Late Khotanese [script needed] (āsā)), however the Proto-Saka would form would have been *āsāydi. Cognate with Gandhari 𐨭𐨂𐨜𐨯 (śuḍasa).
